Change forum stuff

1. Add section 'Other' or similar since this thread really doesn't fit anywhere

2. Make the forum prettier so that the eyes bleed less when looking at this forum, maybe something like:
https://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=view&pid=617

3. Allow attaching filetypes .js, .toml and .zip (maybe)

4. Add Syntax highlightning (since this is basically a forum about code) e.g:
https://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=view&pid=843

Good ideas! As for the a theme: I am working with a UI designer (paying him for it) to come up with a branding and UI design for Gekko. Better to just do all of that once as soon as we have a better style I think. But you're right, this theme is quite bad.

Will work on your other points.

Also quickly add better spam protection (e.g. reCaptcha) , solving math questions has been broken since forever in the BlackHat SEO world.
Else this forum will be spammed to death by bots soon.

Not sure about adding a ton of captcha right now. I personally really hate websites that require it. For now I am manually banning bots, if this becomes to much work I'll will do that you said.

I really hate captchas too but for registering once?
It's a thing a user only has to do once so it's not such a huge problem.

The newer reCaptcha aka 'Are you human?' works dynamically so most users will only see the 'Are you human?' and that only requires a single click.
It only falls back to harder captchas when certain more 'spammy' stuff are met (e.g. user being on the TOR-network or repeatedly loading the signup page etc).

I would also appreciate since it takes no time to check the box like on Coinigy Login.

tommiehansen as per your suggestion I now enabled reCaptcha. It was getting a bit out of hand.

I've also added some different security questions and disabled the default one (might not matter that much, but was easy to change).

I have just enabled your suggestion for now, I should have done this earlier! However: I am working with a visual designer to design a brand around Gekko. But easier to edit a nicer theme instead of starting from scratch.

Great!

And yes -- more easy to edit then begin from scrach. Forums is sort of a pain to design as well. This theme would just need a couple of fixes (like line-height) etc. to be pretty good.

Edit: Btw --if you wish to quickly delete all posts from a specific user (like a spambot..):

...no longer can "see" latest threads since it's filled with spam only. :/

Another suggestion: When one reply to message A and then message B these posts get clustered into one single post if these are one-after-the-other. I can see why the dev's of MyBB would do this but since it is often two different answers to two different people (replies) this becomes quite messy. It would be simpler if a single message (or reply to a user) actually is a single message/reply to a user. Problem is mostly that if one write a long reply to user A and then a short answer to user B the answer to user B will mostly be invisible (and some other problems like it being a non-standard way of how forums usually work).

Deleting spam is actually even easier (I had to enable some settings for this), but I can now simply click on any account and click a button that says "purge spammer". It should automatically ban the user (I think the IP as well) and remove all posts from anywhere. If you still see some spam in some recent list somewhere, please PM me a link and I'll have a look.
