James Harden is an American professional basketball player. Born on August 26, 1989 in Los Angeles, California, Harden is considered one of the best NBA guards of his generation. Here's a look at his history as a player:
Harden played college basketball at Arizona State University for two seasons, from 2007 to 2009. In his sophomore season, he was named an All-American and won the Lute Olson Trophy, awarded to the best college basketball player in the year.
In 2009, Harden declared himself eligible for the NBA draft and was selected third overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He played for the Thunder for three seasons, from 2009 to 2012. During that time, he formed a formidable trio with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Harden won the NBA's Best Sixth Man award in his final season with the Thunder.
In October 2012, Harden was traded to the Houston Rockets. It was in Houston that his career really took off. Harden became the Rockets' undisputed leader and was selected for the NBA All-Star Game several times. He won the league scoring title in the 2017-2018 season, averaging 30.4 points per game.
Harden played for the Rockets until January 2021 when he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. With the Nets, Harden joined an already talented team that included Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Although his first season with the Nets was plagued by injuries, Harden continued to be a key player in the team's championship run.
Outside of the NBA, James Harden has also represented the United States in international competitions. He won the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics.
