Using Gekko for forex trading
#1
Hello,

since you can write your own API's for diffrent exchanges, I wondered if it would be possible to trade fiat currencys.

Would this be technicly possible?
What is about trading with margin? Can Gekko do this?

Yes it would be! As long as the fx broker has an API it should be possible.

I have played with Gekko with cryptos (thanks for all the job done on this incredible tool !) and i am now interested in using Gekko for Forex data.
I encounter difficulties with non continuous data set (imported from CSV archives).
Indeed, at the difference of cryptos where the markets run wihtout interruption, the forex marketplaces have day off each week (for the week-end).

Gekko doesn't want gaps in the data.
How can i deal with it ? Is there a mean to configure Gekko to consider the data as a whole and unique set of candles regardless of non continuous candle start dates ?
In other word a mean for Gekko to simply ignore the gaps of the saturday missing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I am not sure about the fiat currencies. Many platforms don't accept them, so it's better to avoid these types of currencies. I mean, I am not a professional in this field. I've just started an investment course from https://timthomas.co/key-forex-chart-patterns/.So I gave you my response based on my knowledge from this course. But yes, I've read on many forums that fiat currencies are not trustworthy. Hope my message will be helpful for you. In case there is something else I can help you with, feel free to text me.

It would be definitely possible. Some of my friends have done it many times, exactly through the trading method you mentioned, and it was fine.
Hey Diana, the thread was not about platforms. You might create another thread to rise your chances and get a better response. To shorten your time I can share with you a list from https://www.onlytradeschools. Some of those platforms I used personally, so I think the list is ok. You have to understand that a reliable platform with a good reputation, will charge that %. I know it's high, but take it as an investment and calculate it to the costs when you make the investment decisions.
