I am super new to Gekko and trading in general. Is it possible to program a strategy to sell if a high or low value is reached? For example, if the current price of BTC is 8000, and I want to sell the full amount if it reaches 10,000 or sell the full amount if it drops down to 7,500, can I do that with Gekko? Currently in Coinbase Pro (GDAX) won't let you set two limits on the same coin, you have to split it. If anyone knows, that would be helpful. Thanks!

Hi all,

I'm wondering: how do you guys define which strategy you are eventually going to use in live trading?

I've been doing a fair bit of backtesting, with both manual parameters setting and bruteforce/gekkoga results. Both on various strategies like MACD, RSI_BULL_BEAR(_ADX), RSI, etc. And of course on various timeframes.

With all these combinations I obviously get very mixed results. One strategy with a certain set of parameters perform better on certain timeframes and other strategies better on other timeframes.

As far as I can see it there are a couple of steps involved in defining what strategy you're going to use:
Determine which asset/currency you're going to trade;
BTC/USDT, ETH/BTC, XRP/ETH, etc.

What timeframe would you like to cover in your upcoming trade-periode;
Are you looking for shortterm (few weeks, a month) or longer term (months, year) trade-period?

What timeframe in the history would resemble your upcoming trade-periode (I guess this requires some feeling for the market);
Do you expect your upcoming trade-periode to be overall bullish or bearish?
Was there a time-span in history with a comparable trend?

What is the actual trade strategy you're going to use?
Do you base that on trying out a couple of strategies? Do you have a go-to strategy?

Finding the right parameters
(brutforce/gekkoga)backtesting?

To papertrade or not to papertrade?
Once you have your tradeperiod, strategy and parameters, do you actually start papertrading or do you start live-trading based on your research so far?

To be honest, I'm quite struggling with these steps. Perhaps my aproach is faulty or my knowledge lacking.

How did you come up with the set-up you're using for live-trading and which strategy are you using?

I would love to read it!

Hi there people

I would like to find out which is better for live trading. the Gekko CLI or UI? I am using the RSI_BULL_BEAR_ADX on CLI at the moment, the reason why I"m using CLI is because when I did backtesting over a few months (3 months, 4 months, 5 months and 6 months) I get a profit of between 135% - 180%

If someone can suggest which one and your reason for choosing it...

EG:- I say UI is beter because of xyz

It will be interesting to see what everyone suggests

I was trading on https://tradeogre.com and pretty quickly realized there was a few bots trading against me. Here is what I could see they were doing.

Buy coin at 1 sat higher than highest buy offer
Sell coin at 1 sat lower than lowest sell offer

Basically, they were exploiting a gap between the buy/sell books on a single coin on the exchange; I was doing the same thing. I know it was a bot because as soon as I put my order above/below it, it moved the order.

For further evidence, it was set to ignore any combined order above/below a predetermined amount-- for example. If I listed 4.5 coins for sale, it would move it's own order to exe before mine (price diff of 1 sat). But if my coin sale totaled 4.49 it would do nothing.

I used to this my advantage to find the floor of how low the bot would be willing to go, then leavel 4.5 coins there to hold the bot's order as low as possible while putting mine much higher up the order book to maximize my own profit. Conversely, I have also broke my order up to the 4.49 totals and traded in 1 sat price increments which means I didn't realize as much, but still got my orders executed before the bots.

tradeogre is a relatively low volume exchange, so getting the order traded first is important, especially on coins that have these gaps because they are even lower volume usually.

Just curious if anyone knows what this trade strategy is called. If anyone is curious to run it, I tripled my "fun" money (disposable money I just have for fun) in 2 weeks trading like this. Usually a buy/sell pairing every 4 hours or so. Trade pair profit ran from 3% to 14% usually around 8% though. I ended up stopping because my holdings were getting to the point of taking a long time to actually execute.
